Testing Sequence (Grades 8 - 12)
- 8th Grade
- EXPLORE (Practice for the college entrance ACT)
- SAT/ARMT
- 9th Grade
- PSAT/NMSQT (Practice for the college entrance SAT – optional)

- THE PLAN (Practice for the ACT)

- Fall – PSAT/NMSQT (Practice for the SAT and qualifying year for National Merit Scholar)

PSAT = Pre - Scholastic Aptitude Test
NMSQT = National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test
SAT = Scholastic Aptitude Test

Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT)
- Group Ability/IQ Test
- 72 Questions
- Timed – 40 minutes with no extra time allowed
- Student Ability Index (SAI) is determined – rough comparison to IQ
- Average ability level – 90 to 109
- Gifted – above 125
Stanford Achievement Test (SAT)
- Achievement Tests
- Reading/Math/Language (writing, sentence structure, punctuation, etc.)
- Number of questions varies
- National Percentile Ranking – student scored higher than this percent (i.e. 82nd percentile means student scored higher than 82% of the students who took this test.)
- AAC Range – compares student’s ability (SAI) and achievement (National Percentile Ranking)
- Low Range – student not working/achieving up to his/her ability
- Middle Range – student achieving at middle level of ability
- High Range – student achieving/working at full potential

Auburn High School Graduation Requirements
28 Credits Total
- 5 English
- 4 Math (Must include Algebra1 or Algebra 1A and 1B, and Geometry)
- 4 Science (Must include Biology and Physical Science)
- 4 Social Studies
- 1 PE
- 1 Business Tech
- ½ Fine Arts
- ½ Health
- 8 Electives
Successful completion of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam (AHSGE) is also required for graduation. The AHSGE includes 5 subject area tests:
- Reading
- Language Arts
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies
AHS 9th – 12th Grade Curriculum Options
GRADE LEVEL CLASSES
- Meet all requirements for AHSGE
- Meet all AHS Diploma requirements
- Meet requirements for College acceptance
ADVANCED CLASSES (AP)
- Comparable to College-Level
- More challenging
- AP Exams administered at completion of each class
- Choice of AP or Grade Level in each subject area
- Weighted grade points (A=5 points, B=4 points)
- College credit possible
- Fees involved ($84.00 per course)

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) CURRICULUM
- Extended Essay and 4,000 word research paper
- Theory of Knowledge (TOK) (course on the philosophy of learning)
- Extra Curricular/Community Service (150 hours)
- IB Exams administered at completion of total program (Spring of 12th grade)
- College credit possible
- Weighted grade points (A=5 points, B=4 points)
- International Baccalaureate Diploma administered on completion of program
- Fees involved ($650.00 for entire program)

- 3 credits of one Foreign Language

Career Pathway
All students are strongly encouraged to select a focus area (major) and to have completed at least 3 electives related to the area by the time they graduate.
